As a Mediator, I have strong communication skills that enable me to engage successfully with individuals and groups. I approach and prioritize each interaction with empathy, transparency, compassion, understanding, and a strong ethical foundation. As a neutral listener, I strive to remain unbiased and free from stereotypes, fostering an environment that values diversity and respects the autonomy of others in all mediations. I am dedicated to maintaining accountability and transparency in all aspects of my ethical conduct.
I seek to understand client needs, issues, and concerns. My goal is to identify common ground and collaborate on strategies and options that lead to mutually beneficial outcomes in all my mediations.
With 40 years of experience in communications and negotiations, I have developed a strong background in engaging with the public in various roles focused on Mediation and conflict resolution, as well as in corporate environments involving negotiated financial matters.
I bring a variety of skills and qualities to Mediation that enable me to effectively facilitate compromise and cultivate mutual agreements, resulting in positive outcomes for all participants.
Effective communication is essential in negotiations, and I have cultivated this skill through extensive experience and education. Shortly after graduating high school, I joined the Department of National Defence, where I graduated from Military College with certificates specializing in Communications. In this role, I was entrusted with Top Secret and other classified communications, highlighting my ability to manage sensitive information responsibly.
Later, while employed with the Metropolitan Toronto Police Force, I completed the C.O. Bick College Communications Diploma course. This experience during my service with the Police Force allowed me to deepen my understanding of human behaviour, focusing on individual differences in ability, personality, and interests, and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders. I expanded my scope of communications and negotiations, mediating in various ways with the diverse nature of conflict in communities, involving two party to multi-party disputes. Diverse conflicts that varied day by day and hour to hour.
I was required to constantly assist people in crisis, and work with behaviourally difficult and demanding members of the public (e.g. persons in crisis, intoxicated persons, those struggling with mental health issues, those with difficulty communicating, agitated/angry individuals, frightened/scared individuals.
The foundation of my early development has significantly influenced my career trajectory. I pride myself on my ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of individuals, which I consider to be exemplary and invaluable in my profession as a Mediator and my Mediation skills.
I spent several years as a Chief Human Resources Officer, and than Public Relations & Sales Manager for National and International Sales. Providing me with wisdom and experience in cross-cultural communication, relating to sales and relationships.
I'm a Humanitarian by nature. Conflict occurs everyday with everyone. Negotiations take place everyday with everyone. Every negotiation or conflict is unique in itself.
I have the knowledge, wisdom and understanding to be an excellent communicator, negotiator, and mediator.
